“Bariatric surgery is in a constant state of flux. For the clinicians and other health-care professionals involved in the care of an obese patient, keeping up with these changes is a tough and daunting task,” commented Mr Agrawal. “In March 2013, Springer agreed to publish this book. Each author was very carefully selected and is an expert in their chosen subject.” Over 150 experts, including 112 surgeons, both national and international, have contributed to the book. This book will provide a concise summary of all the key topics in the field of obesity and its surgical management for a wide range of healthcare professionals involved within a Bariatric Multidisciplinary Team such as Dieticians, Metabolic Physicians, Anaesthesiologists, Psychologists, Radiologists & Nursing staff. It will also serve as a reference guide for Physicians, Surgeons & General Practitioners and an ideal guide for a Bariatric Surgeon.

“As an active member of BOMSS, IFSO, and ASMBS, I had a very positive response from most people when contacted about the contribution towards the book,” he added. “I would like to thank everyone who gave their time and effort in the preparation of the book, including the authors, section editors and reviewers. I am expecting the book to be released at the forthcoming IFSO World Congress meeting in Vienna, August 2015.”

Mr Agrawal will be presenting an outline of the book at the 6th BOMSS Annual Meeting, in Newcastle Gosforth Park, Marriott Hotel, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, on Friday 23rd January in the Grandstand Suite at 11.00am.
